Catch The Rain Project:

Digitizing Pond Shapes:

  • Utilize Google Satellite imagery to identify and delineate the shape and boundaries of existing ponds within the project area.
  • Employ GIS software tools to digitize the pond shapes accurately, ensuring alignment with geographic coordinates and scale.
  •  Attribute each pond with relevant information such as size, depth, and surrounding land use to create a comprehensive dataset.

Analysis And Assessment:

  • Analyze the spatial distribution and characteristics of existing ponds to identify areas with inadequate water storage capacity or where additional ponds are needed.
  • Overlay the pond shapefile with other spatial datasets such as digital elevation models (DEM) to assess terrain suitability and hydrological connectivity.
  • Conduct geospatial analysis to determine potential areas for new pond construction based on factors such as slope, drainage patterns, and proximity to water sources.

Recommendations And Proposals:

  • Prepare a detailed report outlining the findings of the pond digitization process and the analysis conducted.
  • Provide recommendations to the client on areas where additional ponds should be constructed to optimize water retention and recharge groundwater resources.
  • Present proposals for new pond locations, supported by evidence from the digitized shapefile, DEM analysis, and site suitability assessments.
  • Emphasize the importance of strategic pond placement to maximize water catchment and minimize environmental impact.

Data Delivery And Documentation:

  • Compile all relevant data and deliverables into a comprehensive package for the client’s review and reference.
  • Provide the client with the digitized shapefile of existing ponds, along with an Excel file containing coordinates (latitude and longitude) of both existing and proposed pond locations.
  • Include a digital elevation model (DEM) of the district to facilitate further analysis and decision-making.
  • Supplement the geospatial data with block-wise PDF files detailing specific recommendations and considerations for each area.
  • Present a detailed water conservation plan document outlining strategies and best practices for increasing the water table of underground aquifers, incorporating information on pond construction, rainwater harvesting, soil conservation, and community engagement.
